Best homemade tomato soup!

I love making homemade food, and I've been on the search for a good tomato soup recipe. I was getting tired of the high sodium tomato soup from campbells, so I decided to make my own! This recipe is wonderful, it's cheap to make and tastes great! I doubled mine, as the origional recipe didn't make much.

Ingredients

8c chopped fresh tomatoes
1 sliced onion
4 whole garlic cloves

4c chicken broth (no sodium added)

4 tbsp butter

4 tbsp all-purpose flour

1 tsp salt

2 tsp white sugar, or to taste

 

In a large pot, over medium heat, combine tomatoes, onion, garlic and chicken broth. Bring to a boil, and boil for roughly 20 mintues to blend the flavors. Remove from heat and run the mixture through the blender.

 

In the now empty pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour. Now, whisk in a bit of the tomato mixture, so that no lumps form, then stir in the rest. Season with sugar and salt, and to adjust to taste.
